A private enterprise built a shared living quarters at Yamate No.234 for the purpose of coaxing back foreigners to devastated Yokohama, after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. It was designed by Yoshizo Asaka who also planned the Enoki-tei coffee house (a two-story, white house) next to Yamate No.234. The building was used like this from around 1927 to 1975. You will enjoy the cute and charming Christmas decorations of this house in December. An index of this series is here.
