The Tamariba Festival started back in 2016, and it takes place on the banks of the Tama River in the Komae area of Tokyo. It claims to be the largest riverside festival in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and in previous years the two-day event has seen visitor numbers of around 15,000.
Visitors to the festival can expect to enjoy a variety of music performances, food and drink booths, and even hands-on workshops where attendees can try kayaking, skateboarding, and more.
Admission to the event itself is free, but do bring yen if you're planning on buying food and drink or taking part in any workshops that have fees associated. Please also note that the festival hours are different each day – on the Saturday, the event runs from 10am until 9pm, and on the Sunday those hours are shortened to 10am until 4pm.
