The long, cold winters have now given way to fields with flowers and the green, bucolic spring in Furano. The lavender hasn’t arrived yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to stop by for a visit. Some say peak season is the only season; I wouldn’t agree with that. The surrounding agriculture of the area is layered with rolling fields of grass, flowers and at the valley’s floor, wet rice cultivation. I’ve got an afternoon and a scooter and no plan. Bring your map when you travel in Furano, but perhaps it’s best to keep it in your pocket for most of the day.
