Buri Kaido is a route that once connected Toyama, Hida, Takayama, and present day Matsumoto for the purpose of transporting buri, or yellowtail. Although no longer in operation, this once vital route is now a surprisingly perfect guide through these four cities and showcases some of Japan's most impressive art, natural beauty, cultural heritage, and history.
