Japan has earned two spots on a newly released list of the world’s most beautiful flower destinations, with scenic locations in Yamanashi Prefecture and Saitama Prefecture recognized alongside famous floral attractions in Europe, South Africa, and New Zealand.

The rankings were featured by Travel + Leisure and were originally compiled by Spinblitz, which analyzed flower-focused destinations around the world using factors such as flower vibrancy, destination popularity, online reviews, and “photo-worthiness.”

According to the report, researchers combined publicly available review scores, social media visibility, and the visual impact of each location’s floral displays to determine the final rankings.

Among the Japanese locations included was Yamanakako Hana no Miyako Koen, a sprawling flower park near the base of Mount Fuji. Known for its sweeping seasonal flower fields, the park is especially popular for its vibrant tulips, sunflowers, and cosmos blooms set against dramatic views of Japan’s most iconic mountain. The combination of colorful flower beds and Fuji scenery has made it a favorite photography spot for both domestic and international travelers alike.

Also making the list was Chichibu Hitsujiyama Park, famous for its annual shibazakura, or moss phlox, displays. Every spring, the park’s rolling hills become covered in bright pink, purple and white flowers, attracting huge crowds during the annual Shibazakura Festival. The carefully designed floral patterns have become one of the Kanto region’s best-known spring attractions.

The two Japanese destinations appeared alongside globally renowned sites such as the Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands and London’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, highlighting Japan’s growing appeal as a destination for seasonal flower tourism beyond just sakura.
